29 Nov 1942, Boston, Massachusetts, USA — Police, firemen, reporters, and the curious gather at the entrance to the Cocoanut Grove nightclub in Boston on November 29, 1942. A fire on the previous evening incinerated the interior of the building, killing 492 and injuring 270, but leaving little apparent exterior damage.
